The Torrington Probus Club was founded in 1953 by a group of local merchants.  Our membership has remained between 10 and 20 since our founding.  Presently we have 13 active members.  Over the years we have been a major benefactor of the Litchfield Association for Retarded Citizens.  In addition, we have contributed over a quarter of a million dollars to everything from high school scholarships to soup kitchens.  For decades we have honored local Teacher's of the Year with gifts and recognition.  

Our one funding source is an annual auction held in the fall.  Our members solicit local businesses who have been extremely generous.
